Back to Basics

As early back as 2800 B.C. Babylonians were making soap. Soap was made from natural oils and fats of plants and animals. Soap supposedly got its name from Mount Sapo in Rome. The word sapo, is Latin for soap. Mount Sapo, was thought to be an ancient site of animal sacrifices. After an animal sacrifice, rain would wash animal fat and ash, that collected under the ceremonial altars, down to the banks of the Tiber River, Italy.

Women washing clothes in the river noticed that if they washed their clothes in certain parts of the river after a heavy rainfall their clothes were much cleaner. Thus, the emergence of the first soap – or at least the first use of soap.

The natural form of Caustic Soda (lye/sodium hydroxide – NaOH) derives from ash from burnt hard wood. These days Caustic Soda is made commercially.

The mixture of Caustic Soda, fat and water are all that is needed to create soap. Delizia Naturally aims to be sustainable by using fats and oils that would otherwise be discarded.

Delizia Naturally Soap is made from scratch, using the traditional cold process method that retains all the natural glycerin, making a very moisturising bar that will nurture your skin.

Palm oil free, Paraben free, Sulphate free, Petrochemical free and artificial colourings free, 100% natural.
